Werewolf Wednesday #7: Dog Soldiers (2002)! Just to get it out of the way: it’s pretty fucked up that a movie about werewolf soldiers wasn’t named “War-Wolves.” Stuff I liked: bipedal werewolves!, stars the actor who played Davos/The Onion Knight on GOT 😍, there’s a major Goldilocks and the Three Bears vibe when you realize they are straight up in the werewolves’ cozy family cottage, a werewolf beheading someone and throwing the head at a car, playing Debussy’s Clair de Lune on the piano was kind of cheeky, the weird scene of a werewolf using the sword it’s been impaled on to facefuck a soldier? Stuff I didn’t like: my biggest pet peeves with werewolf films are slap-attack/kung-fu werewolves and being coy about actually showing the transformation scenes, and this movie hits on both.
